  • Managed the creation, maintenance and development of the external-facing website (https://www.warwickprint.co.uk/), writing audit, strategy and performance reports, advising on improvements and implementing them, resulting in significant improvements in Google rankings for the appropriate keywords

With the re-organisation of the University of Birmingham into Colleges in August 2008, I became the Web Manager for the College of Social Sciences having previously worked as Web & Marketing Coordinator for the School of Education.

  • Devised web strategy for the College of Social Sciences web sites (2008 - 2011)
  • Managed the transfer of the 22 web sites of the College (about 5300 pages) to the new Contensis content management system (2011)

Berlitz Language Centre   Birmingham, United Kingdom
The Berlitz  Language Centre in Birmingham was taken over as a franchise by the "UK Languagecentres Ltd."  in April 2000. Since then, the company grew steadily, adding the Berlitz Centre in Edinburgh (2001) to the franchise and opening Centres in Bristol (2002) and Oxford (2003).

As part of the managerial team I was involved in all stages of marketing and public relations campaigns for the four Centres.
London School of Modern Languages   Prague, Czech Republic
The "London School of Modern Languages" was the first private language institution founded after the collapse of communism in the Czech Republic, it subsequently became one of the largest private language schools in Prague.
German Instructor - Senior Teacher (since September 1998)   September 1996 to June 1999
  • Planned and implemented advertising and public relations campaigns.
  • Organised extra-curricular events at cultural institutions such as the "Goethe Institut".
  • Devised a variety of new courses.
In my role as Senior Teacher I was involved in the design of new courses and in promoting the "London School of modern Languages".
Caledonian Society   Prague, Czech Republic
The "Caledonian Society" in Prague was set up by British expatriates to promote Scottish culture and to provide a link between British and Czech nationals. The "Caledonian Society" organised weekly events (Scottish country dancing) as well as annual events (Wine-tasting trips to Moravia, "Caledonian Ball", "Burns Supper", "Highland Games"). Dancers from the "Caledonian Society" were regularly invited to participate in Celtic Festivals and St. Patrick's Day celebrations all over the Czech Republic.

  • Responsible for setting up weekly dancing event; ensuring location accessibility, supervising instalment of musical equipment, overseeing the collection of entry fee.
  • Assisted in preparation of "Caledonian Ball", "Burns Supper", "Highland Games", including selecting dates and venues, selecting set menus for dinners, welcoming the musicians, decorating locations and being referee at the games.
Service Civil International   Various sites in Germany
The Service Civil International is a volunteer organisation which organises international youth work camps in Europe and overseas. The project assignments range from social, ecological work to restoration of public buildings and assistance to documentation centres of former concentration camps.

  • Instigated campaign finding appropriate sponsors, securing necessary funding of projects, launched public relation campaigns.
Since 1994 I have been in charge of the organisation of international youth work camps in Germany as well as running them on the behalf of the "Service Civil International". I  was responsible for every aspect in the preparation of the camps (obtaining sponsorship, securing accommodation and sanitary facilities etc.). During the camps I organised and monitored excursions to surrounding localities, study-programmes (inviting speakers to present seminars on various topics) and free-time activities (ranging from doing all kinds of sports and games to going shopping, visiting the cinema, restaurants etc.). I was also responsible for public relation campaigns, promoting both the "Service Civil International" as well as the specific projects, resulting in coverage by regional and national newspapers, radio and television.
