The Edinburgh Language Centre is situated right in the heart of the Georgian New Town. Edinburgh, Scotland’s beautiful capital city, enjoys a unique setting on the North Sea among seven hills. The city is a World Heritage Site with over 60,000 listed buildings and many museums, art galleries and other visitor attractions (The Castle, The Palace of Holyrood, the medieval Old Town, the Royal Yacht Britannia, and so on). Every August and September the city plays host to the world-famous Edinburgh Festival. But even the outside the busy summer months the city of Edinburgh has a wide selection of cultural events and activities. Hogmanay, the New Year’s Festival, has already become the world’s biggest New Year celebration. The breathtaking Highlands are only a short drive away and easily accessible over the weekend, making Edinburgh the ideal base for a language learning vacation. We offer the full range of Berlitz language tuition and other services such as translation and interpreting. Language Courses in Edinburgh Total Immersion® A Total Immersion course runs from 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday, and is our most intensive programme (a total of 60 lessons per week). In addition to the one-to-one tuition, each day includes a lesson with two teachers present, allowing natural use of third person verbs and expressions. The programme includes a working lunch, where you continue to practise in a social context, and a multi-media lesson each day. Cross-cultural elements are also included in this programme. Total Immersion creates a miniature target-language environment and is highly effective (designed at McGill University, it has become an internationally-recognised Berlitz trademark). Crash Course The Crash Course is our less intensive one-to-one full-time course, comprising 40 lessons per week. Lessons take place Monday to Friday 9.45am to 12.45pm and 2.15pm to 5.15pm. The tuition is the same as for a Total Immersion but without the working lunch, the lesson with two teachers or the cultural component. A multi-media computer lesson can be substituted for the final teaching lesson each day, for revision and consolidation in lieu of homework. The Crash Course
can also be taken half-time over two weeks (ie every
morning or every afternoon), if this fits better with
work. Berlitz In-Company Courses In-Company Courses
are language training programmes designed for companies
and will normally include business-related materials. A
Business Language Advisor will establish your
requirements for language goals, course contents (which
may include project-work or materials from your company)
and lesson schedules. Tuition can be arranged individually
or in small groups and can be given at your premises or
in the centre. Back-up language services such as document
translation, interpreters and self-study materials mean
you can think of Berlitz as your complete out-of-house
Language Services Department. Private Programmes A course of lessons
tailored to meet the specific language goals, schedule,
and budget of the individual. Part-time courses are
popular because of the flexibility of lesson time and the
individual attention given to the student. Forty lessons,
for example, would comfortably take a student up one
Berlitz Proficiency Level and could be
covered in one afternoon or evening a week over ten
weeks, or twice weekly over five weeks etc. English Group Courses- 4 June to 14 September Half day:
