The Berlitz Language Centre in Birmingham was taken over as a franchise by the "UK Languagecentres Ltd." in April 2000. Since then, the company grew steadily, adding the Berlitz Centre in Edinburgh (2001) to the franchise and opening Centres in Bristol (2002) and Oxford (2003).

Designed and maintained the company websites for Berlitz franchise Centres in Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Oxford (to see examples: www.rolfschwarz.com/Websites/index.shtml), and for and with participants for various "Service Civil International" international youth work camps (to see examples: www.rolfschwarz.com/SCI/index.shtml). Responsible for SEO which resulted in 20 % of all new business coming via the websites. Analysed webpage statistics and advised on future purchase and marketing issues. Recommended soft- and hardware purchase. Installed, maintained and upgraded software, hardware and network components. Assisted in the design of promotion material (brochures and Newsletters). Updated data and information for marketing and internal statistics purposes using spreadsheet/ database. Instigated e-Mail marketing and supervised postal marketing campaigns. I was responsible for a wide range of IT tasks: from the purchase of soft- and hardware to the setting up and maintenance of hardware and small network environments; from the creation of databases in Excel and Works to all stages of web-design from the creation to uploading of Webpages using FrontPage and Dreamweaver, photo- and graphic editors (Micrograph Picture Publisher, Corel), producing .swf and .gif animations and adapting JavaScript, Pearl and CGI applications.
